Victim Chaplain & Counselor Assoc. presents H. Norman Wright: “What to do when” is the theme of this Advanced Training for anyone involved in crisis ministry.

Using case studies and live demonstrations of counseling and debriefings, you will be taken to a higher level of being equipped to help others. We will be focusing on the following:

  • Handling compassion fatigue, burnout and self-care
  • Identifying forgotten or ignored loses
  • The impact of sudden loss and how to respond
  • Notifications
  • Complicated mourning and how to respond
  • Common reactions to crisis and how to respond
  • Helping survivors of a suicide
  • Trauma

We will cover a multitude of “what to do and say” responses at a time of trauma.

H. Norman Wright is the author of over seventy books including Experiencing Grief, The New Guide to Crisis and Trauma Counseling, Recovering From the Losses of Life, Quiet Times for Couples, and Before You Say I Do. His current focus is in grief and trauma counseling and critical incident debriefings. Part of his work is developing curriculum in loss, crisis and trauma as well as community wide Grief Recovery seminars. He is a Certified Trauma Specialist and a Certified Traumatologist. He has conducted training courses for Victim Chaplain and Counselor Association for many years. He is a licensed therapist and taught in universities at the graduate level.
